Participants will have a rare opportunity to view a dramatic solar light form casting across a metamorphic figure that takes place this time of year on this educational tour.  We will explore and have time to discuss many of the petroglyphs that make Three Rivers Petroglyph Site in south central New Mexico such a unique destination and cultural treasure. 

 

Your leaders are Melanie Moon of Moonfire Tours and Joan E. Price, M.F.A., a research associate with the Jornada Research Institute, educator, writer and photographer.

 

Itinerary:

 

17th November

Meet up in the evening at location to be announced for brief introductory lecture and discussion on Three Rivers, light snacks and drinks.

 

18th November

Guided Three Rivers tour with bag lunch to view petroglyphs and the unique solar alignment, followed by an evening campfire and discussion.

 

19th November

Continued exploration of Three Rivers site to see more petroglyphs
